London, UK

I hadn't been to the UK since last Christmas and had almost given up hope of making it back to my homeland this year, when I decided that I must go and see my family. My mum's 70th birthday was approaching (she had me very late in life) and I decided we should just go. Without much planning. But it was probably the best idea I'd had in a while. God I'd missed London. And I'd missed the food even more...

Hilton Head Island, SC

Apologies for the giant gap between posts recently. I've been having a terrible time with my insides, and just trying to figure out what's going wrong. I still have no answers, but hopefully I will soon! So, now that's out the way it's about time I let you know about some food I consumed whilst visiting Caleb's parents in Hilton Head back in September (yikes - it's already November. I'm terrible!) Next week I'll finally be heading back to London to see my family and I'm already excited about all the food I'll be eating when I'm there, but for now, lets look back on some eats from a warmer time!

Columbus, OH

Pretty soon after I moved to Columbus, I was constantly told about Ray Ray's - "You have to try it!", "Best BBQ in CBus.", "Worth the trip!". Well, it was a food truck downtown and was only open a few days a week & only until it sold out of the food they'd prepared. The line was also always ridiculously long, so the 20 minute drive to "maybe" be able to eat it, wasn't that appealing to me and I never got ta chance to eat it... until a couple of weeks ago when they decided to open up an actual walk-up restaurant a couple of miles away from me!

Recipe - Gooey Chocolate Brownies

I've always loved to bake, but I genuinely haven't had the time to do it recently. Well, today I woke up and decided I was going to make brownies. So, below I'm sharing a recipe for Gooey Chocolate Brownies, which also happen to be dairy free as well as GF (obvs). These guys are extremely soft & VERY chocolatey and can be a bit much for some people - so be prepared!

NYC, NY

At the end of last week I went to visit my friend Caitlin in one of my favourite places - New York! I always love to go there and I find any excuse to spend a few days seeing sights, walking around and of course, eating good food. As a major city there are always a million options for people will allergy problems, so naturally I made a list and planned my days around where I'd be eating...

Columbus, OH

Everyone loves tacos, right? I definitely do. Although, honestly, I love anything that is relatively healthy and comes with some form of avocado... Well in the past week I somehow managed to eat at three different Mexican restaurants in Columbus and so, with some other past experiences thrown in, I decided to do a blog post dedicated to some of CBus' Mexican offerings.

Niagara Falls, Canada

This year I'm really trying to visit some world sights that are easy for me (living in America) to see. Well, one on the list was Niagara Falls. I had planned to go last year, but it didn't quite work out, so this year me & my friend Caylee were determined to go. Especially as it's only a 5 & 1/2 hour drive from Columbus! So, on April 27th we set off with a car full of snacks (including some GF choc. chip cookies her mum had made) and spent a couple of days in Canada at Niagara.

Toronto, Canada

Caleb has been back to being vegan for a while now and I try and eat veggie/vegan most of the week too so when I joined him on tour a few weeks ago, I was happy to go to a vegan restaurant with him for lunch. He had the day off in Toronto, so after looking at what was on offer around us, we found The Hogtown Vegan.

The Hogtown Vegan

Our friend Bobby is from Toronto, so he assured us this place had a great reputation and after a bit of a wait (there seemed to only be one waitress trying to hold down the entire (packed) place down(!) we sat to see what they had to offer. I was relieved to see they had a separate GF menu and promptly ordered a whole bunch of food.

Columbus, OH

Cherbourg Bakery

A couple of years ago I got told about this bakery. A new hope in a sea of non-celiac friendly places in Columbus. I'm not sure if this was the first GF bakery here, but it certainly seems like it was, and to me, it was the first dedicated place I found. I would go and eat cake-style donuts on a sunny morning with my friend Laurel (seen above) and I would enjoy bits and pieces from their (also nut-free) range at work when we were having a day of being spoilt. Well, yesterday I went back there for the first time in a couple of years. I'm not sure why I waited so long - maybe because it's kind of a long drive to get to for me, maybe because I found Bake Me Happy, but yesterday I was in Bexley & decided to give it another go. And I'm sure glad I did.

Denver, CO

So the past two weeks have had a lot going on. I started the year with not much except the sofa and chilling out and hiding from the cold and Caleb cooking most days. It was great. But didn't quite make for interesting posts, so that's why there's been a bit of a break. I did make some Choc Chip Muffins one day and a couple of people have asked for the recipe, so I'll chuck that up this week too - but for today, I'm going to document a quick trip I made to Denver, Colorado on the 8th of February.

Recipe - Black Bean Brownies

Today in Columbus it's grey and we're having "freezing rain", which in England is hail, but maybe that's not used here? Are they different things? Anyway, it's gloomy. One of my best friend's Brombley (read his blog here - it's beautiful) messaged me about something he had baked, that was low carb, GF & vegan and told me I HAD to try making them at some point - I figured why wait (especially as I had all the ingredients in my house), so today I also made Black Bean Brownies.
