NYC, NY

So, this time, I'm back again in NY because I just bloody love visiting the place! I love the feel of the city, and I love their GF options even more! This trip I was able to get in a couple of new places and one especially worthy of a visit. So read ahead for more food tales from the city.

PoshPop Bake Shop

Let's not beat around the bush... this is the absolute star of the show. The bakery, which once existed in Jersey (so therefore I couldn't visit) is now in the most perfect spot - Bleeker St in the village! Praise the lord! I dropped my bag and immediately went here and it was the best idea I ever had. The place was full to the brim with cinnamon rolls, cakes, brownies, pies, cheesecake slices, cookies and much more! I also really wanted to try a cinnamon pretzel, which meant I had to pre-order some (so I could make sure I could try them) and I could only pre-order 6 of them. This was the only issue I had with the place, because there was no way I was eating 6 pretzels in 2 days! I actually gave half of them away to other customers (after a few cocktails at a pub nearby) and then brought the rest of them back home with me to Columbus and ate them over  a couple more days.

The cinnamon roll was bloody delicious - I got it warmed up in store and ate it there. The cakes were ridiculously good - I don't even like Carrot Cake very much but theirs was scrumptious. The lemon raspberry tart's crust was unbelievable but mostly, the very best, very tastiest, best thing I've ever put in my mouth (from a bakery), was the Twix Bar. It was a blondie, salty biscuit base, with caramel, chocolate and vanilla frosting. Holy smokes I can still taste it now. Next time I visit, I'm going to have to order a box of these because they were RIDICULOUSLY EPIC and PERFECT! If you visit, you HAVE to get one of these!!!

Rosemary's

After a VERY hungover Saturday, me and my friend Caitlin had made plans with our friend Andrea and finally ventured outside to find food. Caitlin had suggested we visit Rosemary's as she used to work there and she always loves their food. I ordered a glass of wine, because I thought that would help the hangover and it did! We got some pieces to share to start, and the waiter was great with letting me know what was GF and safe for me to eat off the menu and what to avoid. We began with 3 Verdure - Cabbages, Chickpeas & Eggplant Caponata. The best of those dishes in my opinion was the aubergine/eggplant. I then went with the GF Fusilli Bolognese, which I hate to say wasn't the best. Maybe I just wanted fries because of my hangover day, but mostly I think it's because I just truly believe that my husband cooks a better bolognese at home. This one just seemed to lack any real flavour. I still ate a lot of it, because we hadn't eaten all day but I do wish I had perhaps chosen a different dish. Loved the atmosphere and would definitely give it another try, but I would not order the bolognese again. Ps. I'd also recommend the Brussel sprouts!

Lastly I, of course made the quick usual trips to Friedman's and Don Antonio's. Actually this time both of them were a little disappointing. The fried chicken didn't feel as good as before, and the fries were a bit greasy. It was still delicious, but not as good as I've had it the few times before. Don Antonio's was also slightly disappointing. The pizza seemed smaller than usual and this time they had cut up the sopresseta, and so it wasn't crispy as usual. It just wasn't as perfect as it usually is, but boy the base is still the best GF base I've ever had and it's always, always worth a visit. We also had a drunken visit to Eat by Chloe, which (if you've vegan & GF) is the best stop for healthier fast-food!

As always, NY never disappoints. I love getting cocktails in amazing bars, I love walking the streets throughout the day and I bloody love the food. If you're visiting soon, just make sure you go to PoshPop. You won't regret it.
