Denver, CO

So the past two weeks have had a lot going on. I started the year with not much except the sofa and chilling out and hiding from the cold and Caleb cooking most days. It was great. But didn't quite make for interesting posts, so that's why there's been a bit of a break. I did make some Choc Chip Muffins one day and a couple of people have asked for the recipe, so I'll chuck that up this week too - but for today, I'm going to document a quick trip I made to Denver, Colorado on the 8th of February.

Snooze

We have a friend, Josh, who owns several businesses (check out Ruckus Apparel here) and spends most of his time living in Denver. Caleb wanted to visit for a few days before our real holiday, so he set off for a few extra days than me and I flew out to join for just two. It may have just been two days, but boy did we pack in plenty of food. Probably not a wise move before a holiday where I had to wear a bikini, but who cares, right?

Anyway, first stop when I arrived in the morning was Snooze. This isn't native to just Denver, but it was my first experience and I must admit, I wasn't expecting much... until I saw that the pancakes could be made GF!

I ordered the Corned Beef Hash, and then at the suggestion of the server, the Cinnamon Roll pancake - which came with cream cheese sauce and cinnamon butter on top. Caleb ordered the Breakfast Taco's and got his pancake choice (Blueberry Danish) GF as well so I could try it (cue Awwww).

Fast forward - My Hash was so delicious I forgot to take a photo before I ate it, Caleb's Taco's were incredibly tasty (their green chile hollandaise is a real winner) and the pancakes were to die for! Mine tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll; which after Christmas's with Caleb's family and his mum's infamous cin. rolls. made up for all the years of longing. They were UNBELIEVABLE. Fluffy, light and the cream cheese topping melted in my mouth. Caleb's pancake was also just as ridiculous. The tart of the blueberry sauce twinned with the lemon cream cheese filling made me die a little on the inside. I could have eaten these pancakes for every meal I was there, but instead I opted for just thinking about it constantly. Even now. Snooze, please send me reinforcements! Thanks!

That day/night I might have had a few too many cocktails, including a couple at Williams & Graham - a speakeasy that wrote down our names and passed through a secret draw before we could enter. Love.

Anyway, I had too much to drink and the next day I was dying for a hamburger and chips (fries). Josh, apparently, knew just the place and boy did he deliver.

Park Burger

Take me back there. Now. That's all I have to say.

Ok, I'll elaborate. The menu read beautifully and there were some dynamite combination burgers. I wanted to try about 5 of them, but settled on the El Chilango - patty, cheddar, jalepenos and guacamole. Give me anything with guacamole and I'll be happy. I also added bacon. Because. Of course, they had an option for a GF bun and there wasn't much more I could really ask for than that. I also got a side of fries that were much needed.

Burger was pure perfection - it was honestly such a great combination of flavours and the 1/3lb patty was just the right size (I tend to not like burgers when they're too thick). I devoured half of the burger and a good chunk of my fries and took the rest to enjoy later. And that I did.

This was the perfect greatest restaurant and everything, including the decor was spot on. You must visit one of their location's if you're ever in Denver.

Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

The last place we visited before flying home was (I must admit) another of my requests - ice cream! Josh took us to a place he visited with his family when he was younger and when we got there, they had a GF cone option! What a bonus! I ordered a Choc Chip Cheesecake flavour and it was spot on. We actually were in a record high temp for Denver in Feb, which we found out later, so it was the perfect end to my mini trip!

Where are your suggestions for Denver? Also, check out Josh's other business Bellwether for events and all round awesomeness.
