Hilton Head Island, SC

Apologies for the giant gap between posts recently. I've been having a terrible time with my insides, and just trying to figure out what's going wrong. I still have no answers, but hopefully I will soon! So, now that's out the way it's about time I let you know about some food I consumed whilst visiting Caleb's parents in Hilton Head back in September (yikes - it's already November. I'm terrible!) Next week I'll finally be heading back to London to see my family and I'm already excited about all the food I'll be eating when I'm there, but for now, lets look back on some eats from a warmer time!

Skull Creek Boathouse

There are NOT a lot of options to eat here, so if you're looking for a wide selection, it's best just to avoid this place all together. They do, however have an amazing view (hellloooo memories of Dawson's Creek) all their salads and dressings are GF & a lot of their fish is (I don't eat fish I'm afraid).  I ordered a "Napa Salad"- spinach, green beans, almonds, avocado, grapes, dried fruit, sunflower seeds, goats cheese and added steak and tomatoes (obv). It was delicious. They did forget my avocado *SHOCK HORROR* but it was OK, I could carry on without it. I just made sure the waitress knew the mistake so that it wouldn't happen to anyone else. Side note: This place gets extremely busy during certain months and the wait can be shocking ( like a lot of places on HHI), so if you want to eat there, make sure you're there early, or going in November.

CharBar Co

This place has been given awards for having the best burgers on the Island, so it's not just my opinion, I guess it's fact this time! We tend to visit this place whenever we're down there, mostly cause who doesn't love a good burger. They offer GF buns (always a plus) and they have some great listed burgers or you can "build your own", which I love to do, because it's nice to just get exactly what you want. Unfortunately my burger was a bit overcooked this time, but I still have lots of memories of the times it was perfectly cooked. It still tasted great, and all the toppings were spot on and the fries were just as good as ever. If you're looking for a great spot to get some inexpensive fast food, this is the place to go.

WiseGuys

On our last night we went out to celebrate that Caleb is about to start writing his new album. Every so often me and him like to have stupidly expensive dinners and pretend we're mega rich when we have major things to celebrate, and so we headed here. This place was brilliant. I informed them of my allergy and they gave me a GF menu which had an array of choices on it and it was refreshing to have a waiter know what I could and couldn't have. It was fantastic.

To start we got a Pimento Cheese Dip, which everyone else ate with house made potato chips (crisps), and I ate with endave leaves. It was tasty but I didn't eat a lot because I'm not a big cheese person (I know this is hard for some to understand, I'm sorry.) For my main I chose to eat the Greek Rack of Lamb as I wasn't in the mood for steak. It came without the pesto (I'm guessing because of gluten, but not sure what would cause this), so instead I ordered a side of bernaise. It was utterly delicious. Then, for dessert there was a flourless chocolate cake with came with ice cream. It was ridiculously good and I'd highly recommend eating it if you get the chance.

Overall this place was fantastic and if you're looking to splurge a little for a romantic meal or a family outing, then I would suggest heading here. It's worth it.

Something you won't be able to buy, but you'll wish you could is also Caleb's mum's NY cheesecake. It's just perfect. The consistency is ridiculous, and the thin layer of sour cream on top just makes it. This time she made the base GF just for me and well, I'm only on here to brag about it really. I'm not sure she'll ever let me put the recipe up, but I'll ask and hopefully we'll have it for all to share on here soon!

As I said earlier, I'm heading to England next week and that means you can expect a lot of posts about dinners and products I can try there, that I just can't get here. I'm far too excited!
